A Captain Decision Ch. 15

"That wasn't all that nice," Mary said.

"Well," I started, "considering that he has been absent ALL of my life? I think it was better than nice. Showing up now to be a father, no, I really don't buy it. He is up to something."

"Do you really think so?" Mary asked.

I nodded as Rommie walked towards me. "I am unsure if he was telling a lie. It is hard with unknown information on him," she said.

I thought about it a moment, then I touched Rommie, placing more information within her. Rommie had a surprised look on her face, then nodded to me.

A few moments, Rommie nodded to me, which caused my anger to rise. Even though I figured that he had been lying, I figured that he'd at least come a little clean.

I was also surprised that the whatever had touched me and mentioned the deal hadn't come from themselves. I shook my head as I tried to figure out just what the hell my supposed father was up to.

I took the arms of both women as I strolled out the front of where I lived with each on an arm. I thought a moment, then we appeared in the same park where I had taken the four captains. Dylan Hunt had been right; this place was beautiful.

Now, I just had to figure out what to do next. I just hoped that I was allowed with as powerful an entity out there as my father's boss.

I was shocked when I heard a powerful but gentle voice in my head. When you are ready just think it, I will know and appear.

Then I felt as if the presence was gone as fast. I sighed this was going to take some getting used to.

I sat to think, I didn't really want to leave the earth, nor the two females I now had. I mean I had spent a lot of time on my own, though now I wasn't.

I really didn't want to leave Rommie or Mary, as I said, I finally had someone. I didn't feel that either of them could go with me. This was a harder decision than I thought it would be.

I spent the rest of the day with both of them as I gave serious thought to this. Was I really as against people as I thought I was? This prompted another day of pondering that issue.

It was the third day, when I felt rather than heard the boom of the universal portal. What the hell I thought, I thought there were only two that could do that.

I reached out seeing a very familiar ship in orbit. Again, what the hell? I thought she didn't know how to do that. Guess I thought I was wrong, then I heard her.

Captain John Thomas, are you there? I felt that this was the only way I could find you. It appears that I have something of yours, though I am unsure of what it is or does.

Hello Wren, I thought to her. I didn't know that you could open a universal portal.

I was unaware that I could either, though when I found this I knew I had to return it. I remember what you said about this, so, here I am.

I felt like an idiot as I was nodding. Can you come here? Or do you need me to do it?

I'm afraid that I can't as I can not see it, nor have I been there before, she thought.

OK, I thought as suddenly she was right before me, her mouth a little open.

"I forgot just how fast that was. Much faster than my portals, slightly," she said. "Hello miss Rommie.

Both Rommie and Mary were a little shocked, though I could see that Mary was trying not to scream.

"Sorry John, still takes getting used to," Mary said as she blushed a bit.

I nodded as I said, "I know, not completely used to it myself yet."

"So, I found this onboard my ship," Wren said. I saw that she had my tablet I had taken to her ship. "I was wondering where that went," I said as I reached for it.

The both of us were propelled across the room from each other, shock on our faces. Wren had a huge smile on her face as she sat up.

"Well," she said, "that was different."

I also sat up as I was nodding, "I agree, it was rather strange though. It was strangely satisfying."

Wren got a bigger smile as she shyly said, "Yes, it was very satisfying. I should go, my family is expecting me, especially my father."

"Be well Wren, it was wonderful to see you again," I said as Wren nodded with an even bigger smile.

"It was a pleasure to see you again also," she said as she kissed my cheek, then an energy portal opened.

I watched as Wren stepped through, then I felt another universal portal open, and she was gone.

Rommie came to me hugging me close, as did Mary. "You'll miss her, won't you?" Mary said, surprising me.

I just nodded as I felt that I had missed something. I then reached within shifting things around again. I had to fix that part of me that kept bringing others from other universes.

I had just finished when I noticed that I was feeling a strange power near me. It wasn't very strong though, it was there. I looked around, wondering what was going on.

I could feel Mary, her abilities still weak though she was slowly increasing. I was instantly on guard as I felt around for another enemy. I was surprised when I felt this coming from Rommie.

I stepped back, as I could only stare at her. I didn't think I had made her with abilities, so I was surprised when I felt them in her also.

I just smiled at her as I said, "I guess I made you better than I thought I had."

This had Rommie staring at me as if I had lost my mind. "What are you talking about," she asked.

"It appears that you have abilities also, though I don't remember giving them to you," I said.

Rommie's eyes opened wide as she stared at me. It then seemed as if she was reaching inside, a strange look appearing on her features.

"I have abilities?" She asked, stunned at what she was seeing.

"Apparently, when I created you, I made you more a completion of me than I thought. I see now that it's truer than not," I told her.

For a moment she seemed to be shocked as she went through what I had said. Then, a rather large smile lit up her features.

"So, you made me like you are?" She asked, a strange look on her face.

This caused me to smile a bit, she had slightly more reach than she did before.

I started to nod, then stopped. "Not exactly like me though, you are more now than you were. It also might take the both of you a while to reach my level if you do."

I saw that both of them were contemplating this a moment, then they both smiled. "At least we can understand more than most can," Mary said.

I then saw Rommie nod her accent, "to me, it just means that I have more power. From what I have seen, not many will ever be as powerful as you are."

I thought about it for a bit, then I nodded my agreement with her. Still, I wasn't all that sure about leaving the earth. I was hoping I could do it from home.

I mean, after a while I'm sure that I could be there in a few seconds. I wasn't sure if that was possible, as I am sure that would take considerable power.

I sighed as I thought about it. I really needed to talk to my father's boss before I decided anything.

As I thought that, a powerful but gentle voice came to me. When you are ready, I am here to talk.

I was shocked when I got an answer almost immediately. I was so ready, then my mind almost went blank. What the hell!

So I started with the million and one questions. Most answered others. A few that led to quite a few more.

Finally, satisfied, mostly, I asked the one question I was afraid to ask the whole time.

So, I started not sure if this was going to anger the being or not. Unlike my sire, I do not wish to leave my planet. I have a few times not really being a fan of being so far away that I really have no idea of how to return.

I felt what could only be a pause as I felt that the being was forming the perfect answer. I knew that when it was time for you to start helping, that you really didn't want to leave. As you thought, soon you will be able to go there almost immediately.

Will I be able to return without having to bother you? I asked.

I could almost feel the being, smile. What kind of boss would I be if I lost one of my best workers? I will make sure that you know how to return before you leave.

I was nodding as I looked at Rommie and Mary. I am also worried about both of them. Will they be safe when they go with me?

Again, I felt the being smile as I felt joy from it. I am glad that you and they will be working with me. They will be fine as their power will start to go up very soon.

I was nodding my head though; I wasn't completely convinced.

I see that you have a great many doubts. Perhaps this will help, I thought, as I was suddenly flooded with immense power. I felt my abilities double, then triple, then double again and triple once more. My mouth must have dropped open, because I felt an ethereal hand close it.

There now you are as strong as your father. Will that help you? Do you require more? The being asked,

I feel as strong as you. I am not a god, are you? I asked, surprised.

No, it said I am just a guardian, much like your father is. You might say that our boss is God or the creator, many things and none of them.

So, are you ready or do you need more time? The being asked.

I feel that there are many things I need to complete before I can dedicate most of my time to this. Is that allowed? Or is this on a time limit?

I felt an almost warm, loving calm, embrace me. Time is of no importance at this moment, as you will find out. There are a few other things that you will find as pleasant.

OK, now I was curious, as I really didn't like surprises all that much. As I was thinking before, I have numerous questions about this deal or job or whatever.

You need rest that you haven't taken in a long time, please, rest, then I will come back. The power increase you just received will take a bit for the rest of you to catch up to, as you say.

I could only shake my head as I watched the entity vanish. This was getting stranger and stranger. I had to admit I was tired as I felt just how little energy I had left.

If I dreamed, I don't remember though, when I awoke, I was alone 'til, I reached out. Both Rommie and Mary were beside me almost immediately.

"John!" Both of them shouted, making my head throb. "Shhh," I said, "my head still hurts. How long?" I asked.

"Almost 48 hours of your time units," Rommie said.

"Ugh two days, I hope nothing has happened while I was out," I said.

"Nothing significant," Rommie said. "I have been monitoring all channels and there has been no mention of anything strange."

It was at that moment that I felt Mary's, then Rommie's power double, then triple far more than they had been. Both of their mouths opened as they felt the increase. Then the power that had just doubled, doubled again even more, they were far more powerful than they had been.

I just smiled at them when I saw that they were shocked, "it's quite something, huh?" I asked.

Both of them could only stare at me with their mouths still open. "It's, it's..." they both started.

I just nodded my head, I knew how they were feeling. I had felt somewhat what they were a while ago.

"So, both of you have increased quite a bit. I am afraid that you like me, are going to be out a bit," I said.

The both of them smirked at me, then started to yawn rather unlady like. They blushed a rather lovely pink color, then yawned again.

I nodded as I led them both to the bed, laying them down. I wasn't surprised when both of them dropped off as soon as their heads hit the pillows.

I sighed as I went to sit and think about all that had happened in the last month or so. I had saved three other universes, actually four with Wren's. Plus, my own, and returning life to a dead planet.

I was surprised that I had left my tablet in Wren's universe. The harder I thought about it, the more I thought that I hadn't. I then started to think that all of this had been planned to get me where someone or thing wanted me.

With all the evil that I had felt, I wasn't feeling as bad about destroying what I had. I shook my head. I should feel worse about this than I did.

I started to ask why when I felt a different, far stronger presence. I felt extreme peace as I felt what seemed to be the power of life itself answer.

If they were good or even alive, then yes, I would expect you to feel like this. Know that they weren't, and you saved more life than you realize that you have.

As an aide or helper, as you feel you are, you will do this, a great many times. You are a very good being, through all the horror that you have suffered through you prevailed.

For now, all I can offer you is thanks and grace that you live a full life. You and your three companions will usher in a new generation of great beings.

I was immediately asking, three? What three? I only have two. I felt rather than saw a smile, then heard, you will see.

This perplexed me even more as I thought over all this new information. I had met many females, but not three I had an interest in.

It was a few more days as I thought about all I had learned. If all that I had been told, then I might, MIGHT be interested.

Both Rommie and Mary, much like me, were out for two complete days. I felt them awaken after that. I had to admit they were a hell of a lot more powerful than they were before.

I'd say that they were as strong as I was before. I had advanced far further than I thought possible. I didn't feel I was a god though, that could be miscontrued I am sure.

I worked with both of them as I tried to help them with the expanded power that they had. It was almost two weeks later when I finally decided that I just might be ready.

I looked at the ceiling, actually feeling a bit silly as I called out. Almost immediately, I felt a power that made me feel small and insignificant.

"I guess we are ready," I said. "Though I really don't know all that much about what I am doing for you."

A voice was suddenly in my head as it explained that I was something of a peacekeeper. I was confused as I said, so the being more than patient with me.

Your judgement will be the judgement. You will speak for me as you decide what to do.

I was even more confused as I was alarmed. ME? This is your creation, as I understand it, how am I even worthy, to judge them.

I felt more than just confidence wash over me, you are worthy. Then the presence was gone and the three of us were standing before a huge number of alien beings.

That's when I noticed that I, Rommie and Mary resembled the aliens. The oddest thing happened was that we could understand them.

Almost immediately, all of the thousands of aliens bowed to the three of us. I had to fight the reaction to gape at them my mouth or whatever it was wide open.

I also saw that Rommie and Mary were having the same problem. We were there at least four of their days as we heard a great many speak. I could tell over half of them lied about what had happened.

I finally had to stop a great many that were talking. I pointed to the many that had lied as they were put in a large cage.

I then looked at the many that were left as I narrowed my eyes. "Those have lied to me, I am not happy that they thought they could, wasting my time. The rest of you need to stop this as I want the truth."

I saw that over seventy-five percent dropped out of testifying. I knew I had to choose my words carefully as many of those I knew were unknown to them.

Finally, it was over as I pointed to those that lied as I removed them from their jobs. I also took their knowledge, which left a few more like children.

I was afraid that many would be unhappy with me, especially the one that was my boss. I was about to leave when I felt something that made my skin crawl.

I appeared deep within a chamber where I saw that several of the aliens were tied to a wall. Many were screaming in pain, causing my anger to rise.

Several huge aliens started to reach for me with what amounted to a sneer on their faces. My anger started to rise like a wave of unstoppable heat as the large aliens screamed, then vanished.

I waved a hand, then appeared before the crowd that had started to disperse. I then grabbed the leaders that were responsible for this.

I saw that they were smirking as they shouted at me that they were innocent. I got in all five of their faces as I tied them to the wall like the others I had released.

They started to scream that they were leaders and were needed. I looked out over the assembled as I stated that I had passed judgement.

I grimaced as I passed a hand over them, then they started liquefying, screaming the whole time. I immediately left, appearing in my apartment or so I thought, losing my lunch immediately.

I looked at Rommie and Mary as I started to cry uncontrollably. I started to shake my head. I couldn't do this. I knew it had to be done, but I couldn't.

I thought you were the right one for the job, I heard, then felt a kind hand on my shoulder. As always with free will, there is always a choice to make. I am glad that you made the right one.

I cannot do that again; the screams alone were worse than I thought they would be. I'm sorry that you are disappointed with me and I understand that you no longer need me," I thought to the being.

Oh no, not like this, I don't, though there are a fair number of other things that I could use you for.

I was confused, as I thought this was all it needed me for. I felt almost a wave of love pass over me as I felt four lives near shocking me.

I looked at Rommie and Mary as I felt new life within them. I turned back behind me not seeing any being, though I could feel them.

You are not ready, John, though you may be the first in a very, very long time to actually get there. Now you have another task to complete, along with these companions. You have another that needs you.

I could only stare at the empty space, then all three of us were suddenly aboard the ship.

OK, I thought, I was more confused than I was before, especially when Rommie tried to connect. We were suddenly entering the portal, then exiting another near earth-like planet.

I was surprised when there was a huge contingent of sleek ships that appeared.

A signal beeped on the com that was answered. "We were told that you would appear today and that we were to guide you in. Please follow us," a male voice said.

What the hell was going on, I thought. The ships reminded me of the same ships I had seen in Wren's universe. They were called what, a space force? I wasn't really sure.

I followed them in as we landed outside the same huge city as before. I was shaking my head as I saw a few of the same people that I saw the last time.

Then I saw the same man that I had onboard the last time I was here. She had said that the man was very important, though she'd not told me who.

I also saw two females, one very regal more so than the man. The other seemed almost to be a younger version of Wren.

This didn't feel right if this was Wren's universe, where was she? The com went off and I heard, "Sir. We need you to help us. You appear to be the only one that can. Please help to save our Wren."

We were immediately beside the man, "what has happened?" I asked, shocking the man.

He immediately led us to a building, straight to a room with Wren, a very pregnant Wren.

"I'm so glad you made it. Remember when I handed you the pad you called it? The shock was you giving me this, thank you, Daddy," she whispered as she grabbed my hand.

A moment later a light appeared, then settled on her chest, solidifying into a male baby. "A son, our son," she said with a huge smile.

A moment later, her father, mother and sister appeared, as did several older aliens. OK, I thought, hell of an introduction.

"I found that this was the only way I could have a child. You are the only one I could be with as we share the same energy. Any names come to mind?" She asked.

I could only shake my head; I heard in my head that I had time. Both of us did. Wren stared at me with a shocked look. This was where I belonged.
