Elunara's little family made their way down from the Keep into the city proper. Wanting to let the rest of her family know their plans for the day, they headed down to the training yard. Jordan was standing to the side, reading Wrathion's latest letter.

Elunara slid her hands around his waist and put her chin on his shoulder. "What's that?"

"Hey, baby. It's from Wrathion. Apparently, he took back the Obsidian Citadel with the help of another black dragon, Sabellian."

"Why does that name sound familiar?"

"Beats me, but apparently there was a whole motherlode of black dragons hiding out in Outlands. Wrathion isn't the last of his kind anymore. Also, from his tone, he really hates this Sabellian guy."

Elunara took the sheets from Jordan. "Hm." Her eyebrow shot up. "When Wrathion uses the word smarmy, you know it's bad."

"We're not the last?" Laithion tugged on Elunara's shirt. "Daddy doesn't need us anymore?"

"Oh, honey. Of course, daddy needs you, he will always need you."

"Yeah, kiddo." Jordan took the letter from Elunara's hands and passed the papers down to Laithion. "It says here that seeing all those black dragon eggs made him miss you guys even more."

Laithion gently took the paper and read every word. He silently passed it over to his sister. She took the paper and repeated Laithion's actions. They passed the pages back and forth several times. Finally, they both nodded and handed the papers back to Jordan. "This is acceptable." They said in unison.

Elunara and Jordan shared a look. "So, anyway." Jordan broke the silence. "I was debating on sneaking through the portal for a look at this Valdrakken city the adventurers keep talking about."

"Did daddy say you could come?" Andryxia peered up at Jordan.

"Well, no."

"Then you shouldn't."

"Kid, I'm a battle hardened General, I--"

"Daddy was explicit in his instructions." Andryxia shook her head. "He said no. Until he says yes, it is unsafe."

Elunara blinked at her youngest daughter. "Well then."

Varian barked out a laugh. "She told you."

A flutter of fabric caught Laithion's attention, and he tugged on his mother's shirt again. "Mommy, what's that?"

Elunara looked around. "Oh, that's a sign for the Darkmoon Faire."

"What's that?"

"It's... well, it's a place where there are rides and games and things. Comes around once a month or so for the week. I tend to forget about its existence."

Laithion began bouncing on his toes, occasionally flapping his wings. "Can we go?"

"Well, I don't know..." Elunara looked at Varian as if doubting. "It's a little spooky."

"Please, mommy, we would like to go." Andryxia fiddled with her stuffies.

Even Emaline's eyes were twinkling with interest. "We've never gone to the Faire before."

"Oh, alright." Elunara pretended to give in.

"Yay!" The trio threw their hands in the air.

"What's going on here?" Tulani walked over with Sinea's hand in her own.

"Oh, hey, Tuly, we were just about to head down to the faire."

"Oh, what a coincidence. I have some banners to take down there. I get orders for them ever so often."

"Well, then let's all go."

Emaline tugged on Elunara's shirt. "Mommy, can I ask Ralphie if he wants to go?"

"Sure thing, little sweet. Ask Jerry and Louis if he can go. We can make a thing of it."

"Alright."

When Emaline ran over, Elunara eyed Varian. "I guess you'll head back to the keep?"

"You know, I haven't been to the Faire in quite an age. I think I'll take the day and go with my family."

That was when Katie and family made their appearance. Katie was chasing down a rapidly toddling Enwoo. She scooped him up just before he could fall on his face. Making her way over to Elunara, Katie was out of breath. "Hello, momma." She puffed.

Elunara put a hand on Katie's shoulder and shot her with her energy. "Some days I am amazed you can even keep up with him."

"Only because of you."

Reaching out, Elunara smiled. "Let me cuddle my grandbaby."

Katie passed him over. As Elunara cuddled the rapidly growing toddler, Katie looked around. "So, what's going on?"

"We're about to head to the Darkmoon Faire, want to go? My treat."

"Oh, that sounds fun. Can we go?" Katie looked at Stephen and his family.

"Of course, my love." Stephen kissed the side of her head.

Soon, Elunara's little group, plus an excited Ralphie were waiting in line.

"How many?" The Faire mage asked.

Elunara made a circling gesture. "This mess." She handed the mage some coins.

The mage nodded at the sum and teleported them all to the portal landing. At the landing, banners surrounded a ring around the portal gate. A pair of fire jugglers were juggling torches between them and a fire eater spit flames into the air. The children were momentarily entranced.

"This isn't spooky." Laithion declared. "Is this the whole faire?"

A Darkmoon greeter laughed. "Take the portal, little boy, then we'll talk."

"Oh."

Elunara grinned. "Come on, let's go." The children linked hands and Elunara grabbed the portal to Darkmoon Island. Once through, they all looked around. Surrounding the crew was a thick, dark wood. The night sky could scarcely be seen through the tall trees, thick bramble, and even thicker fog. The children scooted closer to their mother. In the bushes, something skittered away.

"Mommy?" Andryxia whimpered.

"I said it was a little spooky."

"I-I'm not scared." Laithion poked out his little chest.

"Me either!" From Ralphie.

Emaline looked unsure. "Well, maybe a little scared."

"Welcome to Darkmoon Island! Feel free to ride one of these lovely beasts down to the Faire!" A gnome with the Darkmoon colors on his tabard patted a purple strider.

"No thanks, we brought our own mounts." Elunara smiled and hopped on Yoona's back. Varian summoned his horse and picked up Emaline and put her on the horse's back. Jordan summoned his horse and got Ralphie situated. Tulani got Sinea and herself on Savage's back. Andryxia flapped her wings and landed on Elunara's lap, and Laithion flew beside his mother's shoulder.

Katie blinked at the little group. "Do we have a horse?"

"You can ride Buttercup." Millie smiled. "She's very gentle." Millie pulled the horse forward.

Stephen helped Katie on to the horse and climbed up behind her.

"This is so high up." Katie tried not to look down at the ground. "Are you sure it's safe?" She adjusted Enwoo in her lap.

"I used to ride all the time back at the farm, we'll be okay, sweetheart."

"Alright, down we go!" Elunara called.

As they progressed through the winding road, lit signs and banners seemingly popped out of the woods, startling the young ones. When they crested the hill, the children gasped. Standing at the edge, they watched as an endless supply of fireworks shot through the sky. They looked over the rides, games, tents, and other attractions. Several adventurers bolted past.

"Come on, let's go." Elunara nudged Yoona along, and the party followed suit.

Near the gate Emaline gasped and cringed in her father's lap. "That's N'Zoth's eye!"

"No, baby, no it's not." Elunara smiled. "It's a little spooky, but it's not N'zoth. Come now, let's head on in."

Emaline nodded but watched the eye warily. When it looked down at them, she jumped in her seat. "Daddy!"

"I've got you, my little love." Varian tightened his grip on his daughter.

Once in the gates of the Faire, Tulani nudged Savage to the side. "Here is my delivery. I'll join the rest of you shortly."

"Alright, Sweetness."

A little orc boy ran by chasing a frog. As the family was distracted by that, a gnome in a purple dirigible approached them. "Hello, I am Silas Darkmoon, welcome to my little faire. What do I owe the honor of having the King and Queen of Stormwind visiting us?"

"Nothing." Elunara grinned. "We're just here as a family, to enjoy this magnificent faire you have."

Silas returned the grin. "Then enjoy. Enjoy, and let me know if you need a single thing."

"Will do." The group dismounted. Screams from the roller coaster startled the little group.

Emaline eyed the roller coaster. "That looks a little scary."

"It's not so high." Laithion puffed out his chest. "I've flown higher than that." He looked at his mother. "I want to go on that."

"How about we look around before deciding to do anything." Elunara poked Laithion.

"Alright." He sighed.

Katie clapped her hands together. "Oh, look at the little riding tigers in the sandbox. How precious." Enwoo reached out and babbled towards the sandbox. "I think we'll just sit right here, Enwoo looks like he will enjoy himself."

"Suit yourself." Elunara shrugged. "We're going to explore a bit first."

Andryxia tugged on Elunara's shirt. "Mommy, I really want to go on the spinny thing." She pointed across the way.

"Spinny? Oh, the carousel. Sure, sweetling, let's go get in line for tickets."

Laithion crossed his arms. "I want to go on the other thing."

"Maybe in a bit."

Katie sat Enwoo down in the sandbox, and he began toddling up to each wobbling tiger on a spring. Finally, he grabbed the tail of the white spotted one and tried to pull up on it. Katie scooped him up and placed him on the spotted cat. Enwoo shrieked and kicked his legs.

"He's really enjoying that." Millie smiled.

"We're going to keep wandering around." Said Adam. "It's been a while since we've been here too."

"Alright, I'll be here." Katie sat on the edge of the sandbox.

"I think I'll go get us some snacks." Stephen reached down and stroked Katie's head. "I'll be over there."

"Go on, I'll be fine, this place seems safe. Chaotic, but safe." Enwoo slid off the side of the tiger and grabbed a handful of sand and tried to stuff it in his mouth. With a laugh, Katie stopped him. She brushed his hands off. "No, baby, that's not food. Daddy's getting us some food."

Just then, a pair of hooves appeared beside her. "Where did you get that child?"

Katie blinked up at the brown and white Tauren. "He's my son."

"He cannot possibly be your son."

"I gave birth to him, and you're being very rude right now." Katie stood up. Enwoo sat in the sand and giggled.

"How? I don't believe it. You had to of stolen someone's child." The Tauren loomed over the tiny Katie.

"I most certainly did not. I know when I carried a baby in my belly for eight months. I may have had to of had him cut out of me to save my life, but he is mine."

"Then who is the father?"

"Sunwood."

"Sun--" He blinked at her. "You had sex with my brother? Where is he?"

"I-- He's gone. He died before Enwoo was born. Before... he could know."

The Tauren grabbed her arm and squeezed. "So, he was murdered."

Katie tried to dislodge her arm. "Yes. Over two years ago." Her expression softened. "I'm sorry about your brother. But if you--"

"He's coming with me." The Tauren flung Katie to the side.

"What? No, he's not!" Katie scrambled up.

"He belongs with the Horde. Not with you." He glared at her. "Not with your damnable Alliance."

"I already lost Sunwood, you're not taking his son!"

"Watch me." The Tauren reached down to grab Enwoo.

"STOP IT!" She screamed.

Stephen and Elunara heard her at the same time and turned from where they were standing just to see Katie fling her hands out and a spark of light came out and singed the Tauren's fur. They both headed over.

Katie stared at her hands for a moment, before repeating the motion. Nothing happened. "What?"

The Tauren blinked at her for a moment, before reaching towards Enwoo again.

"YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM!" She hit him again with the spark of light.

Just then, the ogre Burth grabbed the Tauren by the back of the neck.

"What is going on here?" Silas stood up in his dirigible.

"He's trying to take my son!" Katie scooped up Enwoo.

"What?!" Stephen growled in the direction of the Tauren.

Elunara glared him down. "Excuse me?!"

"That child will never be safe in Alliance hands!"

"You tried to take a child from its MOTHER?!" Silas shook his head. "Burth, get him out of here. Toss his ass out of the portal and block him from getting back in."

"Right, boss."

"You know..." Katie said slowly. "If you hadn't of been a big jerk, I would have let his uncle spend time with him. Now, stay away from us."

Burth shrugged and dragged the Tauren off.

Stephen ran his hands down Katie's arms. "Are you okay?"

"I am. I don't know what happened, I just... I hit him with some kind of spark."

Elunara placed her hand on Katie's shoulder and concentrated. "Well, I'll be damned. You're a priest."

"I... am?" Katie blinked at Elunara. "But that can't be right. I made that all up. I wrote it as part of the story, you see?"

Elunara laughed. "No, honey. It's kind of my fault. I've been pumping you with my healing energy since day one. Like Lydia, I think I made you into a priestess."

"Oh. But what does that mean...?"

"I'm not entirely sure. But think of it. We train you a little bit and you'll be able to heal wounds and things. Since your husband is a warrior, and you've got a growing little boy who will get scrapes that will need healing, it'll be very handy."

"Oh. Oh! That will be lovely."

"Maybe you can do it now." Stephen smiled at her.

"How can we test it?"

Elunara flexed her hand and her dagger appeared. Stephen held out his hand and Elunara poked the tip of his finger with the dagger. "There, heal that."

"How?"

"Focus on the wound, focus on how it would close and seal and then pour all of your faith into it."

Setting Enwoo down, Katie eyed the blood coming out of the tip of Stephen's finger. "Okay. I'll try." She closed her eyes and concentrated on finding her faith and energy. Opening her eyes and held her hand above the wound. Slowly the cut began to mend. After a moment, it closed completely. "I did it." She breathed.

Stephen wiped the blood off his finger on to his pants and eyed the little scar left behind. "Yes, you did. My wife is a priestess, how cool is that?" He nibbled on her neck while she giggled.

Enwoo wrapped his arms around his parents' legs. "Love my momma." He said.

"Did he just?" Elunara blinked at the fourteen-month-old.

"Here we go again." Katie laughed. "Yes, that's the second time he's said it."

"Did that Tauren baby just call you momma?" a familiar voice asked.

Elunara whipped around. "Kimmy?"

"Heya, toots."

"Kimmy, oh my goddess, it's been ages."

"Yeah, it has." Kimmy winked. "So, what's with the kid that looks like Sunwood, and why did it call her momma?"

"Because I am his momma." Katie scooped up Enwoo and backed away, positioning her body like a shield. "How do you know Sunwood?"

"Fucked 'im once, apparently you did too."

Katie almost dropped Enwoo. "What?"

Elunara cleared her throat. "What my gnomey friend here is trying to say, is that she and Sunwood had sex. So, she used to know him too."

"You knew about this?"

"I facilitated it. Kimmy here had an idea, and Sunwood fulfilled his end of the bargain."

"I... I don't know how to process this."

Elunara turned to Kimmy. "And what Katie needs you to know, is that she and Sunwood fell in love and had a relationship. Enwoo was born from that."

"Used to know?" Kimmy blinked up at Elunara. "Something happen to Sunwood?"

"He was murdered." Katie said quietly.

Kimmy winced. "Oh man. Oh man, I am so sorry. He was a real sweetie, too."

"Yes, yes he was." Katie sniffled as a tear ran down her face. Stephen rubbed her back.

"Aw, I didn't mean to make you cry." Kimmy frowned.

"What are you doing here, anyway?" Elunara looked around. Her kids were still waiting in line for the carousel.

"Engineering quest. Plus, this place is just fun." She pointed up. "I like the roller coaster."

"Of course, you would." Elunara laughed. "Well, since this crisis is over, I'm going back to enjoying the faire with my kids." She gestured at them.

"Sounds fun. Laters." Kimmy went for the roller coaster.

Stephen rubbed his hand down Katie's back. "Do you still want him to play here?"

"I've never let some big jerk ruin things I enjoy before. I'm not about to start now." She stubbornly sat back on the edge of the sandbox. "Though now I really want some cake."

"I'll see if I can find you some."

Her smile was like a sunbeam. "Thank you, my love."

----

After letting the kids ride the carousel more times than she cared to go around, Elunara redirected them to the rest of the faire. Laithion's favorite game was whack a gnoll, though he kept getting in trouble for trying to flame the pop ups that startled him. Andryxia wanted to pet all the animals in the menagerie, however, when a ram tried to chew on one of her stuffies, she let out a shriek that startled half the animals there and nearly caused a stampede. Emaline's favorite game was ring toss on the turtle, which she turned out to be pretty good at. Ralphie had to be pried off the battle tanks. They wandered the faire, playing games, seeing sights, and eating way too many snacks.

Elunara was enjoying holding hands with Jordan and Varian as they walked along. Several carnies stopped to ask about the twins' wings, and the menagerie manager tried to include them in the sideshow. Laithion also kept trying to convince his mother to go on the big roller coaster. Overall, everyone was having a blast with it.

After a while, the kids began to tire out, and Elunara led the group to some benches.

"Mommy, why can't I go on the big ride?"

"Because after all the food you've eaten, I don't want you to throw up."

"I will not!"

"Come on, baby, let him try it." Jordan rubbed her back.

"Not without one of us, and at the moment, I want to let MY food settle." She rubbed her stomach.

"Hmph." Laithion crossed his arms.

"Is that little fire jumper?" A voice startled them all.

Jordan looked back at the carnie and after a moment he felt the heat rush to his face. "No. No, I think you have the wrong person."

"Oh, no, I do not. I remember every face, and I certainly remember yours." The woman put her hip on the edge of the picnic table. "You've picked up a scar or two since I saw you last. Which is why it took me a minute to place you." She reached out and brushed her fingers on his star-shaped scar. "What happened to you, honey?"

"It's... it's a long story." Jordan blushed and ducked his head. Turning to his family, he cleared his throat. "So, um, about that roller coaster?"

"Oh, no you don't." Elunara shook her head. "Who is this?"

"Name's Lissy. I'm a fire spitter. Nice ta meet ya. I used to do a fire walking routine, but after a certain fire jumper decided to show off, we had to cancel that portion of the show." She scrubbed her hand on Jordan's hair.

Jordan went from pink to crimson. Elunara laughed. "He told me something about that the other day."

"Oh, really?" Lissy cocked her head to the side.

"Do NOT!" Jordan hunched his shoulders.

Elunara swatted Jordan's leg. "You know me better than that."

"Who's this, anyhow?"

"My wife."

Lissy's eyebrows shot up through her hairline. "I knew a cute thing like you wouldn't stay single forever. Should have snagged you when I had the chance." She winked. "But after you were hauled off for healing, I figured you'd be too embarrassed to face me, especially when you never came back to the faire."

"I think he still is." Elunara winked. She rubbed Jordan's leg.

"Aw, poor baby." Lissy leaned down and kissed his scarred cheek. "Well, I must get back to work. Later, little fire jumper." She sauntered away.

Jordan was still hunched over. "Damn it."

"Well, she was... dare I say it..."

"Don't."

"Hot."

Jordan scrubbed his hands in his hair. "ARGH!"

Elunara laughed. "I thought my past had a habit of..." Her ears twitched. "I know that sound." She got up and started walking. When the children started to follow, she waved them away. "Stay with Varian for the moment."
