Click here"Jaxon, I assume the chores are done?" the deep voice called out in the descent sized three bedroom house. Jaxon rolled his eyes before putting down the controller and turning off the game console and then the TV.
"Doing it now Dad." he called back.
"Homework?" his Dad asked.
"Done, did it when I got home." Jaxon confirmed and saw his Dad nod. His Dad is every bit the Huge Indian that everyone sees when looking at him. Six foot Nine inches, 275lbs and barrel chested with muscles that would make many body builders jealous. Even his cat was huge with large muscles, only Raven, their Alpha was bigger or stronger. His Mom had a more European look, slim, pale porcelain skin, blonde hair and toned, her cat was a stealth fighter. She could slip into the shadows and blend easily, even though her Jaguar was more of a light tan in coloring and still when a scout was needed, she was called first.
"Good job, now if I could just get you on those chores at a descent time. Son, never put off anything that can be done right away." he Dad said loudly, knowing his Mother was listening and then whispered, "It gives you more time to play later.." Jaxon chuckled.
"I heard that!" his Mom called out from the kitchen and both laughed. Jaxon ran off to grab the trash and then dragged the cans down to the end of the road for pick up in the morning. Then grabbed an arm load of logs. Jaxon stood tall for his age and his skin tone while light still gave away his Native American heritage. He left his black hair long, like his father and learned how to keep it tied back out of his face. His sky blue eyes were the only real thing that pointed to a second heritage, he got them from his Mother.
Like his Father, his cat was solid Black and well muscled even for his young age, which suggested his human growth would be more like his Fathers build further down the road. After stacking the wood he prepared for the trip the following day. He was going to visit his Grand Mother, she had been captured years ago by a rogue Government group and used as a test subject, or more closely her Mother was while still inside her Mother. He'd grown close to his Grand Mother, loved to listen to her stories of when she'd been a Loner at one time. His sister is still too young for such travels and spends most of her time at the Day Care Center while his parents trained and taught the younger members of their pack and pride, he loved being part of the Greywolf Pack.
"Now when you are up there, you behave and do not cause trouble like last time. That man may not be your Alpha, but he is your Grand Mothers Alpha and he deserves proper respect." his Mother was saying while he mouthed her rant word for word once again. He could see his Dad hiding his smile at seeing him mocking his Mom playfully. In a flash he was face planted in the potatoes and gravy.
"And stop mocking me.." she added after swatting the back of his head. He heard his Dad fall out of his chair as he was laughing so hard. He lifted his face and wiped away the food from his face to find his Mom staring down at his Dad.
"And you, you're just incorrigible." she gruffed at him. In a swift move he saw her fall on top of him and he hugged her close. She seem to calm under his arms and melted against him, the differences between them made more apparent as she was only Five foot six inches and weighed nearly nothing by build alone. But she is a werecat and you never underestimate them by any means. He held strength, stamina, speed along with heightened senses. She was agile, speed, stamina and could also teleport. Jaxon gained two abilities when he was barely five years old, strength and speed, he could not wait to see what else his cat held for him.

Jaxon got off the Bus and was suddenly within his Grandmothers embrace, she suddenly lifted him and grabbed his bag before they were moving with several wolves through the terminal.
"We have to hurry, come on.." one of the men said as he ushered them both out of the building and into a large black SUV. Three cars, all black and SUV's drove out of the City and headed straight for the pack compound. One was in front of them while another trailed behind.
"What is going on Gran?" Jaxon asked. She looked at him finally and checked him over, once satisfied she sat back a little calmer.
"The humans know of us and have begun a campaign of attack against all shifters." she explained sadly. She was hiding something, of that he was sure.
"Give her a moment Jax, she is grieving.." his cat sent to him and his eyes widened a bit at that news.
"The humans flew over a pack and dropped bombs on the compound, it was the Greywolf Pack." she said softly, "We know your Mom and Dad are okay they were out patrolling when it happened, but one of the bombs landed on the Day Care Center."
"Suzy!" Jaxon cried out and saw her break down in tears and hug him close. He knew that was why the bond felt off for some reason. It had confused both his cat and him about half way through the bus ride, but with no way to communicate through the family bond he couldn't find out anything. He watched his Grandmother pull out a cheap looking phone.
"He's here, we have five minutes to the compound." she said quickly and shoved the phone into his hand.
"Jaxon?" his Father asked and he started to sob quietly.
"You stay with your Grand Mother, stay safe and remember one thing always and forever. We love you with all our hearts, your duty is to your Alpha first and foremost, you will know them when your cat says they are worthy. Stay safe my son.." he said with the same steel in his voice that he always held.
"Jaxon, be good and make us proud, I love you so much, you are our life, keep safe." his Mother said on the line and then it went dead and he handed it back to his Grandmother as he stared down at his hands. His Sister was dead, he would never forgive the Humans for this cowardice attack.
He heard the crunch as the phone was destroyed and the pieces scattered along the road. Several miles later they pulled into his new Home. The Silver Moon Pack, he got out and waited until his Grandmother climbed out. Then his cat rushed forward and he sprinted away from the large House and into the trees. He heard paws behind him and knew it was his Grandmother chasing after him, he sat on the ridge line staring at the full Moon.
His cat let out a roar filled with pain, sorrow and most of all loss. It was soon joined by wolf howls into the lonely night. No one hearing it would sense anything but their pain.
"I am so sorry, Son. No one should ever have to go through anything like this, you have our deepest condolences." a deep voice said softly. Jaxon looked back knowing it was the Alpha, Jerome. He stepped up and lightly petted his cats head slowly. His Grandmother moving up beside his big cat and leaning against him gently.
While most packs moved under ground, Silver Moon remained untouched and beyond flybys by any drones or planes. Except of course when the President would visit Camp David, apparently Camp David was right along the boarder and no one ever expected Shifters would dare to be housed right next door to a Government Compound.
At the behest of an advisor, a past President had declared the area a historical refuge. No one allowed to trespass with out facing Federal Charges, or in present day, flying over it with out a Presidential order given. After a hundred plus years, the Government more or less forgot about it.
Jaxon sat and watched the TV with the rest of the pack as Raven disclosed that her line was dead and that she was declaring all out War. The Silver Moon pack sent more then thirty Warriors out to aid her, along with every other Pack, Pride and Coven. Most of them would never return home after the War ended, but everyone expects that when training to be a Warrior.
"Gran, I want to be a Warrior, like Dad." Jaxon said in a tone that she knew he would never change his mind.
"You will be a Great Warrior." she whispered in reply and wiped away the tears from her cheeks. Alpha Jerome just sat watching Raven declare War, he could never imagine loosing all of his children in such a way. Word was that her mates were in a bad way because of this as well, having lost the will to live past the loss of their own Children.
Years Later -
Jaxon easily flipped the older man over his shoulder and swiveled around behind him with an arm locked around his neck while preparing to snap his neck.
"Halt!" a voice yelled out and Jax froze.
"Well done and perfect. Good job Jax." the older man called out. Jax smiled and clapped the mans shoulder in front of him before helping him to stand up.
"Damn you move fast." the older Warrior said with a grin. Jaxon was now eighteen and had already gone through the final change. He gained agility, stamina and an even higher state of senses. He can teleport along with being able to scan the surface thoughts of others even at a distance. The only abilities he did not have, being able to heal others or the big one, Juggernaut, only the Greywolf's had that and after Raven died of heart ache, none were left.
Two years after the war started, Gran had gone into town with several others to get some groceries. Coming out of the store she and the others were gunned down by the Military, seems they had found a way to identify who was a shifter and who wasn't. They ambushed them and killed them before they even had a chance to surrender.
Jax had never felt more alone, no idea if he was the last of the genetic cats, no idea if his parents were even alive. But after all this time after the War ending and no one coming to get him, he could only assume they had died as well somewhere along the way.
"Jax, come with me a moment.." Carter said as he walked off. Jaxon followed the Alpha's heir off towards the arena and both sat down.
"What's up Carter?" Jax asked while using a towel to wipe away the sweat and dirt.
"The Alpha is stepping down tonight at the pack meeting, I will be taking over and I want you as my first." Carter said plainly while Jax just nodded while listening then looked over at him.
"You can't name me, Carter, you know that and you know why." Jaxon said as he reminded him.
"I know, I know. Listen Jax, the Greywolf pack is dead, there are no Alpha's over there. You need to join this pack properly. It's been long enough now and we need you." Carter said, it was a long standing debate between Jax and the Alpha and his family. He had made a promise to himself long ago, only submit to a worthy Alpha. He had hoped it would have been Raven or one of her children, now he didn't know who would be worthy to his cats standards.
"You know I can't, my cat will not submit to anyone he does not see as his superior. Only reason I follow you and Your Father is out of gratitude for everything you have done and respect." Jax replied and sighed a bit, "And because I do love this family.." he admitted and Carter smiled.
"Well I still want you as my first Beta, maybe make a new position that could be just as important so the others won't get butt hurt over you being called as first Beta..." Carter was saying while he hummed softly to himself, "I'll think of something.." he said finally before getting up and leaving. Jax remained seated and looked out over the sky.
Well, word coming in of the return of the Greywolf pack should get Jax's attention. Especially when he realizes its a surviving alpha heir. She would be the only one who could best him and satisfy his cat's requirements. He is also probably the best candidate for assisting madam Greywolf with her heat needs in the future.
You could have at least let him reach the timeline point they learn of Torie. Or maybe their pack was one that had a 'fugitive' human dropped on their lands mysteriously? Jax being the only one to detect even the faintest scent of Torie despite her ability to hide it completely from everyone else? Or his ability to read people let him know who their captive believes dumped them into the pack's possession? A female panther hitwoman. That info alone should get he and his cat's attention.
Chapters are never long enough. Come'on, more, more.
