Well written story. I thought he could be a little more compassionate toward Erika; she does love him, after all.

How do you get an annulment after you've been screwing your brains out?

One use of "MARK" when it should have been "James"!

An annulment isn't just about whether or not sex was involved. An annulment can even be given if the couple has children, if it can be proven the marriage was based on fraud, deception, or co-ercion.

As for being more compassionate to Erica - gee, she loved him, huh? She was still willing to let Mark kill him to keep herself out of jail. If she loved him, she would have told James the truth and lived with the consequences. She is lucky James loves her enough to not send her to jail.

If I continue to like the story, I will rate the final chapter 5*****. In that event, the first two chapters would have also rated 5*****.

I wondered about annulment so I Googled. Fraud and misreputation are valid reason including:

1) Not intending, when marrying, to remain faithful to the spouse (simulation of consent)

2) One partner had been deceived by the other in order to obtain consent, and if the partner had been aware of the truth, would not have consented to marry

I believe either or both 1) and 2) would be justification for an annulment.

I gave you another Five Stars , Amigo. It is a very good story.

I just hate it when they keep me in the dark and feed me shit. His decision to keep her out of the loop may well bite him in the ass. But it is a great read. 5 stars.

I'm sure you've been to Stockholm. And taken the overnight ferry to Helsinki. There are three nice hotels in Stockholm's Old Town in 17th and 18th century buildings, so why invent one in a 700 year old warehouse? The oldest remaining buildings in Stockholm are 16th century fortifications, now incorporated in the Supreme Court. You're correct about the city's age, but all that remains of 700 year old buildings are cellars under newer structures.

A much better chapter, although the major conflict wrapped up too quickly with little drama.

James sends the virgin Beverly to noted pussy hound Mark for some simple financial stuff that he could have easily handled himself. This needlessly puts an innocent girl in the sites of a person who can't be trusted.

Then James later doubles down on endangering Beverly by not letting her know Mark was plotting to murder him, meaning that she has no way of knowing that Mark is a dangerous predator or that he is not even working for James anymore. James would rather endanger Beverly than have her distracted from her studies, a decision so ludicrous it defies belief.

JakeRivers is no dummy, so the only reason for him to make James this obtuse is to build the plot up to Mark attacking Beverly, with James coming to the rescue if she's lucky. Do I even need to read the 3rd chapter to see if I am right?

More action in that chapter. Pretty good long con by Mark and Erika. She just " fell in.love".

This is a good story arc, please continue.

The basic story arc from the beginning as characters were introduced. But that's pretty much to be expected in these stories, there's only so many ways things can go, it's the way we get to the people who really love each other get together. This story is really fun for me since I'm intimately familiar with all of the areas involved. Mark's first job was a meter reader in Battle Creek, that would mean he either worked for Consumer's Power (now Energy) or the Battle Creek Gas Company or possibly the City as they handle water and sewer. For what it's worth disposing of Mark's body would be a slam dunk for James, just take it up across the bridge deep in the the woods up towards Canada, dump it and let the wildlife clean up the garbage. Basically a good story. I have no sympathy for a wealthy individual who marries any twat after a relationship of 3mths, or even a yr. Did she meet any of his friends? did he meet any of hers? Did you have any kind of work up done on her to see what her workmates and bosses thought of her? Get a background check? no no and no? then if he gets taken to the cleaners, bully for the 2 hardworking grifters vs a lazy dick guided rich man. this naive BS takes away from the story, bigly. rk
